Learning Negotiation

Experience is a great teacher. The adjuster should rely on his or her experience and use that experience to help negotiate a settlement. If a technique works, it should be used often. The negotiator should remember that a fair and reasonable settlement is one where the party paying thinks they paid a little too much and the party receiving the money thinks they got a little too little.
