Insurance 101 – Chapter 3 – Volume 1 – Underwriting


Before the insurance claims adjuster can begin a claims investigation, he or she must understand the nature of underwriting. Underwriting is the process of accepting or rejecting risks. It requires a determination of the terms under which the insurance will be written if the risk is acceptable. It is a function unique to the insurance industry.
