Insurance 101 – Chapter 8 – Volume 93 – Rights After an Appraisal Award

When an appraisal award is rendered, the insurer has two options:

• it may challenge the award where the only ground for such  challenge is collusion between the appraisers, some business relationship between the umpire and one of the parties, or the application of an incorrect standard; or

• it may pay the claim within 30 days of the award.
