More on The Fishing Approach

This fishing approach is especially effective if several people were actually involved in a crime or know that the witness committed a crime. Not surprisingly, when this technique is used, the witness assumes that someone talked and he or she might as well tell the truth. The agile mind of the interviewer, listening carefully to the witness, gets a story different from what was expected—the total truth.
